A registered Charity No. 1058887

There are two ways to support the museum. Firstly by becoming a friend of the museum, and secondly by volunteering. Friends Organisation The Air Defence Radar Museum is a Registered Charity (No 1058887) and receives no financial support from the RAF.  As well as revenue from Entrance Fees, the generosity of the Friends of the RAF Air Defence Radar Museum goes a long way to meeting the day to day running costs of the Museum.  However, the Friends bring much, much more to the Museum than that. Many of them have been involved with the Air Defence of Great Britain and our Forces abroad with several WW II veterans in their number.  In fact, all eras of Air Defence are currently represented within the Friends organisation and, as such, they provide an invaluable source of information and anecdotes spanning the decades.  However, you do not have to have been involved in Air Defence to make a huge contribution.  Many of the Friends are simply visitors who have been captured by the spirit of the Museum and the volunteers they have met and so you do not need to have even served in the RAF to become a Friend. The Air Defence Radar Museum is a large facility with many exhibition rooms, the Shop, Crumbs Café and a large area of land – and that’s just the public part of the Museum.  We pride ourselves, not only in maintaining the Museum in tip-top condition, but, most importantly, in providing our visitors, whatever their previous knowledge of the world of air defence, with a thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining and informative day out. Effectively staffed and run entirely by volunteers, the success of your day out is down to the exceptional Team who will look after you, often from the moment you arrive in the car park through entering the museum itself, joining one Guided Tours, enjoying a Tea, Coffee or Snack in our comfortable bright Café right down to those with a particular research question you have for the Curator.  Most of our Volunteers have a strong link to both RAF Neatishead or the world of Air Defence, many having worked in some capacity at this very site.  So, who better to show you round?  But, several of our Team have experience in other fields of life – as well as people who have just been captivated by the Museum following a visit, we even have ex-Army and Navy people who work here!
